Abstract
Application of 2D structures that present electromagnetic band-gaps (EBG´s) to signal integrity issues has been a subject of interest in the last decade. An important problem to be solved is to match the EBG and the spectrum of the noise. This can be done, among others, by using materials with prescribed dielectric constants which is usually of high value and consequently a costly solution. A cheaper one is to use common dielectrics or even air with embedded small metal inclusions. Such a solution is proposed in this paper. EBG´s are calculated for the infinite structure and favorably confronted with results obtained for a finite version of the structure by quantifying the coupling between two transmission lines immersed in the finite configuration.
