Abstract :
Questions on the definition of the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) have been thoroughly argued throughout the TRIZ community. The theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) is a method of thinking that consists of tools to help in the process of problem solving. TRIZ allows analysis, the structuring of models and, finally the solution of problems with a systematic approach based upon a series of subsequent stages and operating tools. In the Malaysian context, TRIZ is fairly new and only practiced in a remote number of industries and institutions. Proven to be a strong and effective tool in problem solving, yet when introduced and taught, research has shown that only a fraction of learners accept it and pursue it for further studies. Narrowing down the focus, this paper will discuss this one problem solving technique that helps in producing innovative solutions practiced by one manufacturing industry in Malaysia. This paper will discuss on the experiences and learning of TRIZ by practicing TRIZ Level 3 experts in one industry in Malaysia. The findings invite further studies on the reason behind this occurrence and suggestions on how to overcome it.
