Abstract
This descriptive study determined the profile of the people living near Estero de Paco in Manila. It also determined their attitudes and perceptions towards the use and purpose of the estuary and the technology management practices employed to rehabilitate it. It was revealed that most of the respondents were male, young, high school graduate, born in CALABARZON and NCR, had no permanent occupation, belonged to lower income class family with five or six members, living in family owned houses made of wood and cement for at least 20 years and living near the estero. Proximity to work was the main purpose of living near the estero. It was also revealed that they participated in various ways to clean up the estero. They perceived that there were efforts to rehabilitate the estero and technology management practices were visible and important. However, they also perceived that these practices were temporary, cyclic, or implemented but not followed. Conclusions and recommendations were also presented.
