Abstract :
After years of continued failures of enterprise resource planning systems (ERPs) organizations´ executives should start thinking of some other facets that could lead to successful implementations. The goal of this study is to report on role of non-technical aspects of ERPs users those organizations, developers and vendors, system integrators and consultants have paying little attention. This study sought to provide a systematic analysis of the interacting effects of demographics and situational variables of ERPs. The interacting effects of five demographic and situational variables; age, gender, level of education, experience with web-based tools and first interaction with the system were tested using multi-group analysis, measurement invariance approach and confirmatory factor analysis. Results indicated that users´ level of education has higher significant interacting effects whereas gender has no significant effect on ERPs usage. This study highlights the key role of interacting effects in ERPs usage. It also shed light on how organizations can mitigate ERPs failures beyond technological aspects. The contribution of the study from the; theoretical, methodological and practical perspectives are also discussed.
