Abstract
The authors introduce the notion of dual objects, an object model which supports the structuring of both parallel programs and parallel operating systems. They discuss the dual object model for distributed cooperation and the corresponding language extension of C++. The model does not prescribe any consistency measures for arbitrarily replicated state information. It promotes inheritance to keep consistency in an application-oriented manner. A mailbox example is presented to outline the features of the object model and the language. Object placement mechanisms are also discussed
