Abstract
A new approach to increase the bandwidth of miniaturized slot antennas by using two resonant structures is presented. This is accomplished by placing two antennas in close proximity to each other without substantially increasing the area occupied by the antenna. One of the elements is fed by a microstrip transmission line and the other one is fed parasitically by the first antenna. It is shown that the bandwidth can be increased by a factor of 2.3 while increasing the area by only 25%. It is also possible to change the coupling to get a dual band antenna with the same geometry.
