Abstract :
This article presents the architecture of an experimental multi-channel UWB localizer. The localizer operates in the band from near DC to 5 GHz. It was built from custom designed SiGe chips. Its performance is shown by four different measurement examples. In the first one, the theoretical limitations of the UWB localizer to determine the exact pulse position (distance measurement) are demonstrated. The further examples demonstrate UWB localizer´s ability to measure the 2D and 3D position of a moving object by two different approaches - active and passive.
