Abstract
Communication Spectrum is one of many natural resources that are limited. Increased demand for spectrum can be met only through effective utilization of available spectrum. Cognitive Radio is focused on addressing this situation. Most of the literature available in this area is dealing with the tradeoff between spectrum sensing and throughput or spectrum sensing and energy consumption. In this paper we focused on optimizing power consumption of the setup consisting of Primary User, Secondary User and multiple Relays. The improvement in signal strength at Secondary User due to relay is analyzed and compared with that of signal strength at Secondary User in the absence of Relay. The Power Spectral Density at Secondary User with Relay and without Relay are compared with help of graphical model. The problem of fading is addressed using multiple relays. Advantage of relays in the case of more than one Primary user is also proved with graphical results. Simulation results are included to compare and evaluate the advantage of proposed model.
