Abstract :
Vector data is not supported by standard web browser, which make the visualization of vector data in WebGIS must depends on the plug-ins from third party or technologies such as VML, SVG. The situation leads to fat client, poor user experience, difficulties of expanding functions and keeping independence of data. The paper put forward a visualization method for vector data based on HTML5, a vector data structure based on JSON, which accord with the W3C´s standards for web. And based on HTML5 and JSON, a new WebGIS architecture was proposed. The experimental system shows that the new model avoids the disadvantages in existed WebGIS, and it has a good foreground of application.
