Abstract
In this letter, the fractal antenna having the novel dual-band electromagnetic band(EBG) in the substrate has been demonstrated, and the effectiveness of the EBG structure is discussed for the suppression of the higher order modes of the antenna. We can receive two resonant frequencies that we need by this new structure, and the radiation patterns at the harmonic frequencies can be drastically improved comparing with the normal fractal antenna without the EBG structure.
