Abstract :
Online FTR Log Tool in a classroom environment is a web-based application to teach and learn the Formal Technical Review process in the software engineering classroom environment. Although the Formal Technical Review (FTR) has been known as one of the best-practice techniques to ensure quality of software products, this effective technique has not been widely used in modern software development in industry due to the lack of training and excessive clerical overhead. The FTR data-collection and reporting processes have usually been implemented in paper form or spreadsheets. Although some computer-based tools are currently available, they do not include the whole FTR process or are not very useful in classroom environments. To address these issues, a web-based Online FTR Log Tool was implemented to manage the entire FTR process in the classroom environment. Variations of this web-based tool have been used in both industrial and academic environments.
