Abstract :
The material microstructure change of components manufactured through roll forming can strongly influence its physical properties such as mechanical strength, toughness, ductility and hardness, etc, which in turn governs the application of these materials and components in industrial practice. In this paper, the investigation on microstructure change process is presented at large area of a workpiece manufactured through of roll forming. The principles of microstructure change throughout roll forming are described using modeling and simulations. The microstructure aspects related to roll forming processes are further studied with finites element simulation. The results show that the microstructure change process in roll forming is practicable for the advantage of application by the assistance of scientific understanding and control of the process in a predictable and producible manner.
