Abstract :
In clinical tests, the degree of 226 stenoses in 200 patients undergoing "prima vista" PTCA was evaluated digital on-site and on-line by both, automated/manual (EDa/EDm) edge detection method and crossline stenosis method (CL). The analysis was performed by use of AWOS V4.01, an angiographic workstation for digital quantitative coronary angiography. A tight correlation between EDa and EDm was observed (r=0.99, p/spl les/0.0001). In addition, excellent correlations between diameter measurements by CL and both EDa and EDm were observed (for both: r=0.97, p/spl les/.0001). It is concluded that both, automated/manual edge detection method and crossline stenosis method compare favorably for measuring the minimal lumen diameter enabling onsite as well as decision making for interventional therapy as reliable evaluation of the morphological results after such procedures in a digital catheterization laboratory.<>
