Abstract
Recently, the increment of voltage distortions on the power distribution systems, which is called the harmonic propagation, is pointed out. This phenomenon is caused by the resonance between the distribution line inductances and capacitors installed on the consumer´s sites, and it is enlarged at night and holiday time. This paper presents a novel control strategy of the power active filter for reducing the harmonic propagation. In order to suppress the harmonic propagation the reduced order model of the power distribution system for harmonic voltages and currents is defined based on the modal analysis theory, and the series power active filter is controlled by using this model. The modal analysis and the reduced order model for the power distribution system are discussed in detail.
