  • Abstract
All-zero block detection is an optimized technique oriented to low bit-rate video coding. Based on theoretical analysis of integer transform and quantization in H.264/AVC video coding, an improved prediction algorithm based on H.264/AVC is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, before the process of integer transformation and quantization, all-zero block decision is operated to residual signal after motion estimation. The detection threshold varied as both the sum of absolute difference (SAD) and the quantization parameters. Simulation results show that, compared with traditional methods, the amount of encoding computation reduces 15% to 32% without significantly declining in terms of video quality.
