Abstract :
This paper updates the latest progress in research and development (R&D) of ultra-wideband (UWB) antennas in Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Singapore in 2007. All projects aim to enhance the performance of UWB antennas for specific applications besides the basic design considerations such as broadband impedance response and small size. First, the UWB antenna with diversity performance is briefly introduced for wireless USB dongle applications. The ground-independence and compact size are the important features of such designs. After that, a compact dipole with stable gain performance is elaborated on for low-data rate point-to-point UWB pulse link. Last, UWB antenna designs on low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) are miniaturized to meet the demands for integrated UWB sensor systems.
