Abstract :
A relational database, named "EPbase", was designed to facilitate patient management and storage of complex electrophysiologic data of patients undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation. EPbase provides an easy to use interface for data entry and a report generator. Its relational structure consists of 12 data files and is further expandable. The main file involves general patient data that can be accessed from other linked history, ablation, catheter, investigator and arrhythmia data files. EPbase is run on an Apple "PowerBook Duo" computer (Motorola 68030, 33 MHz, 32-bit addressing, 8 MB RAM) in the catheter laboratory. Further data management and analysis are performed when the system is inserted into a docking station located outside the laboratory. After completion of the electrophysiologic procedure a patient discharge letter and an ablation report are created semi-automatically.<>
