Abstract

The actual tendency to discharge chronic patients from hospital as well as the increasing request for improving quality of life of elderly and disabled people at home, was the original motivation of the development of the Home Telecare Management System here described. This system allows, at the Home Telecare Service Center, the remote monitoring of biological signals and data, as well as the management of different types of alarm calls generated at home, as part of the services implemented during the course of the EU funded EPIC (European Prototype for Integrated Care) project (AIM A.2007).<>
