Abstract :
We study the role of cooperative infrastructure in distributed interference-limited networks. We focus on the two-user interference channel with a per-node model of channel state knowledge known as local views which emphasizes the mismatched knowledge held by each node. Prior work established that, without cooperation, a significant amount of knowledge is needed by each node to outperform basic orthogonalization schemes. By characterizing the capacity region under both unlimited transmitter cooperation and unlimited receiver cooperation, we provide insight into how cooperation may compensate for limited and mismatched channel state knowledge to enable more sophisticated transmission and higher performance.
