Abstract :
Reasoning and retrieval based on uncertain information and imprecise knowledge is requested for design of various intelligent information systems. An important issue is how to equip them with the capability to transmit uncertainty from imprecise requirement (query) to a conclusion with a reasonable level of belief and satisfaction. The author briefly analyzes the requirement from approximate reasoning and fuzzy retrieval. A satisfaction measure is then proposed. The properties of the satisfaction measure are also discussed
