Abstract :
The concept of intelligent data reduction (IDR) for digital quantitative coronary arteriography and left ventriculography (DQCA) is based upon the elimination of redundant frames (F) and frame sequences (FS) as well as on the image data reduction to a single ECG-controlled FS of a representative cardiac cycle (CC). A redundancy-free set of 70 F selected from 6 CC of a diagnostic study or 50-75 F selected from 5-11 CC from an interventional study can be archived together with corresponding ECG and technical parameters of the angiocardiograghic acquisition on a 128 MB 3.5" MOD. IDR is realized on-site or off-site on an angiographic workstation (AWOS-V4.01) communicating via fast data transfer link (1.3-1.5 MB/s) with a digital 1024/sup 2/x8 bits angiocardiography unit (HICOR-IS) and is managed by a DQCA-supervisor strong cooperating with the angiographer. First clinical trials shows that IDR can be achieved in less than 10 minutes per study.<>
