Abstract :
A whole-body exposure facility has been developed to study the biological effects of pulsed microwave fields with very high peak power and low average power. An experimental high-power microwave transmitter has been adapted to the biological laboratory environment and optimized for bioeffects research. The system provides consistent peak output powers of 800 MW at 3000 MHz. These pulses produce peak exposure power densities of 80 kW/cm2 for 30 to 40 ns at a repetition rate of 0.1 to 1 pulses per second, in an anechoic chamber
