Abstract
This paper focuses on the performance of an optical packet switch with limited range wavelength converters and shared fiber delay lines. In order to deal with the constraints of fiber delay line contention and limited wavelength conversion, a control algorithm is proposed. Performance of the considered switch is evaluated by means of simulation experiments. Packet loss rate versus the number of fiber delay lines, the wavelength conversion range, and the traffic load are analyzed in detailed.
