Abstract :
For short-range chip-to-chip wireless communication, we propose a novel CMOS phase-shift Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) without on-chip inductors. The fabricated VCO occupies only 100×100 μm2 with 0.6 μm CMOS technology. The VCO demonstrates low harmonics and moderate phase noise tolerable for short-range wireless applications. It is demonstrated that a wide tuning range for the CMOS phase shift VCO with high linearity can be achieved by the use of SOI (Silicon On Insulator) technology.
