Abstract :
The authors address a procedure for detecting the timing of the on-board IF-band switch which provides timing reference to multibeam SS-TDMA satellite communication systems. We propose a new procedure using a pattern matching technique to detect the timing of the trailing edge of the sync window against the timing of the transmitted reference burst. Moreover, we evaluate the performance of this procedure by numerical calculation and computer simulation. It is shown that the proposed procedure has a high accuracy in detecting the on-board IF-switch timing
