Abstract :
A modified (MD) Rake receiver for a DS/SS (direct sequence/spread spectrum) signal from a slow Rayleigh fading multipath channel with strong pulse interference is considered. With pulse blanking and pulse duration narrowing, this MD Rake receiver can provide anti-wideband pulse interference ability as well as anti-multipath ability. The performance of blanking in the MD Rake is analyzed, and an upper bound of bit error rate for the MD Rake with a pulsewidth narrowing algorithm using a linear predictor and a pulse-controlled Kalman algorithm is given under the derived pulse model which is suitable for many industrial pulse interferences
