Abstract :
The authors describe an original concurrent decoding scheme for multiple motion videos for use in B-ISDN (broadband integrated services digital network) telecommunication services. Because decoding activity varies with significant block rates (SBRs), sharing of the decoding facility would reduce its size. SBRs of several motion videos are measured to investigate this possibility. Decoding facility reduction is estimated, based on these results. An alternative decoding scheme which prevents decoder congestion by using the transform domain integration method is proposed, and its performance is studied by simulation
