Abstract :
Zambia´s health system which has suffered years of under development and under investment and is at the brink of collapse due to the prevalence of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It needs both short term and long term solutions to bring it back to acceptable standards. This paper is proposing a solution which can serve the Zambia Health system from completing collapsing by taking advantage of the ever advancing ICTs in the country. Telecommunications infrastructure in Zambia is developing at a steady space with the adoption of an ICT policy in 2006. The paper is proposing using telehealth as the answer to the challenges facing the peri-urban and rural communities in accessing medical facilities at their door steps.
