Abstract
The method presented, based on three frames of an image sequence, avoids using any supplementary constrained requirement such as smoothness requirement. According to the inertia theorem in kinematics, the velocity of an object point is considered constant during the three consecutive images, so that the acceleration of the moving object point is set to zero. A series of simple operations lead to a second-order equation about the component U of displacement vector. A discrimination function is established to select one accurate solution from the two equations´ solutions. Another component, V , can be derived from the original line-constrained equation
