Abstract :
A programmable ATM-HUB is developed to realize high speed ATM communication by utilizing the full bandwidth of 155/622 Mbps on an STM-1/STM-4 transport system. High performance workstations can connect to this system via 800 Mbps HIPPI and 155/622 Mbps optical lines. The ATM-HUB´s main circuits consist only of FPGAs and memory. The ATM-HUB´s wired logic is programmable, making it possible to implement various kinds of higher level transport protocols on the reconfigured wired logic. All functional designs for the ATM-HUB can be performed by the purely text based hardware description language and high level logic synthesis CAD
