Abstract :
Configuration of IMA systems is a key technology that makes such systems flexible, yet controlled. The configuration data is a critical component of these systems as it affects system behavior. The configuration data is presented in a form that is readable by engineers and is often translated into a binary representation. This translation must be verified. Verification of this translation is typically performed using qualified tools. Several different tool approaches are described including qualified development tools and qualified verification tools. The successful implementation of a robust configuration system goes a long way to providing the true benefits of an IMA system. These benefits result in the ability to perform incremental certification and reduce the impact of software component change.
