  • Abstract
The paper takes advantage of the motion of a vehicle in an urban mobile radio environment to create a virtual antenna array out of a single antenna. Based on root-MUSIC, the virtual array is used to resolve up to two Doppler frequencies. In an IS-54 environment, the resolved frequencies correspond to the two clusters of incoming radio waves (specified by TR45.3.2) assuming that each cluster has a unique Doppler frequency. Once the Doppler frequencies are resolved, notch filtering is used to separate the two clusters hence forcing the channel to be frequency-flat. Once the two clusters have been separated, they can be combined as a second order angle diversity system
