Abstract
In this paper a printed wide-slot antenna which is fed by a microstrip fork line is extensively optimized by the well known Quasi Newton method to improve its bandwidth and reduce its size. It would be shown that by some strict criterias, a bandwidth of 128% is achievable at the entire L and S band. A comparison will be established between these results and the results from the other papers to investigate the advantages of the proposed antenna. Furthermore this optimization affects the antenna size by factor of 0.6.
