Abstract :
Network bandwidth allocation is crucial for certain applications with quality of service (QoS) requirement such as multimedia in network storage system. And the iSCSI OSD storage system is a object-based system which is a novel network storage technology. In this paper associating with the character of the iSCSI OSD storage system, we propose the priority-based greed bandwidth allocation (PBGBA) algorithm to allocate the link network bandwidth of storage server to the clients. Based on the I/O behavior analysis, we first formulate equations to calculate the needed minimum network bandwidth according to the QoS requirement, and then in greed ways allocate the link network bandwidth according to the priority. At last we set up experimental testbed to evaluate the performance of the PBGBA. The test result shows that it has good storage bandwidth assurance.
