            Abstract :
An equalization algorithm is presented which has especially been developed for wideband time division multiple access (TDMA) digital mobile radio systems, such as the pan-European Group Special Mobile (GSM) system. Based on the well-known decision feedback equalizer (DFE), it combines low digital signal processing effort requirements with effective adaptive equalization properties. This `low-effort´ equalizer is attractive for application in low-cost mobile radio receivers (such as hand-helds) where it is expected to bring a significant reduction of the hardware complexity as well as a decreased power consumption for signal processing
