Abstract
A simple and compact ultra-wideband CPW-fed planar antenna with band-stop characteristic is presented. The antenna consists of a radiating patch that has an arc-shaped edge and a symmetrical ground plane that has the same tapered edge. This symmetrical structure makes the antenna have a compact size of 26 mm times 21 mm and an ultra-wide operation band. By inserting an arched narrow slot in the semi-circular radiating patch, a stop-band centered at 5.4 GHz for band rejection of WLAN is achieved. Experimental results show that the designed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 3.3-10 GHz for VSWR < 2, except a stop-band of 5.05-5.85 GHz for VSWR > 3. The antenna also has good omni-directional radiation patterns in H-plane.
