Abstract :
This paper describes the study, synthesis and analog microelectronic implementation of a method for obtaining the instantaneous average value of a signal, in the context of switching power converter control. A functional description as well as analytical conditions describing the validity of the method are included. At circuit level, the adopted current-mode design approach results in low circuit complexity and high dynamic performance. Simulation results for a microelectronic realization in CMOS 0.35 μm show proper behavior up to 1 MHz switching frequency.
