Abstract
The adaptive control system for a hybrid SVC is proposed in this paper. The proposed adaptive control system enables the hybrid SVC to reach desired current for various load changes in very short time. Responses of SVC for typical changes in load are simulated and obtained results analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed system compensates for the reactive power and suppresses higher harmonics efficiently. In the proposed control system algorithm the processing is done after each sample is taken providing for very fast and accurate response to load changes. The proposed algorithm is computationally attractive and the control system is suitable for low cost microprocessor implementation
