Abstract :
Integrating wireless access with the established telecommunication network presents new transmission and performance challenges. Key factors include increased delay, coding and handset design. In order to provide end-to-end quality acceptable to the users on connections with wireless access, appropriate transmission planning and echo control will be required. This paper focuses on a number of performance and quality factors for both speech and data that need to be addressed from the perspective of wireline equivalence, for both second-generation and future third-generation wireless access systems
