Abstract :
The primary focus of the paper is to review the status and direction of network standards for such emerging mobility services as UPT (Universal Personal Telecommunication) and FPLMTS (Future Public Land Mobile Telecommunication Systems), and to highlight the role of global standards for networking in facilitating the introduction of mobility services on a wide scale. Further, the paper brings out the application of IN (Intelligent Network) in providing a common framework for functional architectures, network interfaces and protocols for these services
