Abstract :
Mediation is defined as a capability that could be provided by a Personal Communications Network (PCN) to both the calling and called PCS customers, regardless of network location, for the real time updating and arbitration of the terms and conditions for establishing PCS calls. The intent of this paper is to identify various types of mediation criteria that could be offered by the PCS service providers, and to evaluate the implications of these mediation capabilities on network resources and subscribers´ perception of service. Potential signalling information flows (SS No. 7 based) and related network block diagrams are developed for specific examples of PCS call mediation. The potential impact on call set-up delay and network utilization is evaluated
