Abstract :
In this paper a comparison between the famous ROM compression techniques, for ROM-based direct digital frequency synthesizers, was performed. Inaccuracies of previous comparisons are pointed out. An improved ROM compression technique based on the Taylor-series linear interpolation method, developed by Bellaouar et al. (see IEEE J Solid-State Circuits, vol. 35, no. 3, p. 385-390, 2000), is presented. Simulation results show that compared to previously reported compression techniques, this improvement can achieve considerable reductions in the ROM size.
