Abstract
The impact of a PWM DC-DC boost converter parameters on its open-loop dynamic performance is studied. The parameters considered are: the load resistance R, the filter capacitor ESR rC, and the inductor ESR r. The principle of energy conservation approach is used to take into account parasitic resistances of the transistor and diode in the inductor ESR. The parameter impact has been evaluated by using a small-signal circuit model composed of current-controlled current sources. Bode plots of the control-to-output transfer function are given using R, rC, and r as parameters. Plots of poles and zeros are given as functions of these three resistances. These plots clearly show how the dynamic performance of the boost converter is affected by these parameters.
