Abstract :
In the next century, the concept of personal communication will assume more and more interest and importance. In fact, in order to meet the needs of the people on the move, the advanced personal communication capabilities will have to be offered "anywhere, at any time", making use of the essential functions provided by the Intelligent Network, e.g. for the registration, routing, charging and billing purposes, and also for its role of "core network" to provide the Universal Personal Telecommunication. It should be considered, anyway, that UPT will interact necessarily with other basic or supplementary services available in the network where the service is invoked; furthermore, the need of personal communications could conflict with third party rights. The interaction problem is also analysed in various environments, both within standardization bodies dealing with UPT or IN (e.g. in ETSI-NA7) and European research projects on IN matters (e.g. EURESCOM-P230). The aim of this paper is to present some examples of conflicting scenarios related to the above mentioned interactions, suggesting possible solutions to these problems
