  • Abstract
Much has been written about the social isolation of teleworkers. However, professional isolation can also be a problem, especially with regard to obtaining information. Remote workers do not have the same access to information as those working within organisations. Home based teleworkers not only require information for their work, they also need information for setting up and running an office. The paper looks at the kinds of information needed by people working from home and ways of finding such information. The emphasis is on the self employed. The kinds of information covered here are information for setting up a home office, information on running a business, and information on training. Ways of finding information include going to such places as libraries and business advice centres and using publications and electronic sources
