Abstract :
In this paper, a co-ordinate control scheme for Automatic Generation Control by SSSC & TCPS with RFB has been presented. To test this proposed co-ordinate scheme an interconnected power system consists of two-area hydro-thermal units has been used. These hydro-thermal units are very dynamic in nature. Therefore it is required to demonstrate and stabilized the system frequency for interconnected power system. In order to suppress the fluctuations occur in the response of two-area hydro-thermal units, static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) and Thyristor controlled phase shifter (TCPS) installed in series with the tie-line in coordination with Redox Flow Battery (RFB) has been proposed in the present paper. The proposed frequency scheme is further improved by optimizing the parameters of SSSC and TCPS using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. A comparative study has been done for system frequency with integral control and PSO technique.
