  • Abstract
Describes the use of complex demodulation of the cardiac inter-beat interval to derive a measure of time-local vagal power in cases where paced or controlled breathing is used. Demodulating the inter-beat interval at the frequency of paced breathing computes the amplitude of that frequency within the time series which should be a time-local measure of vagal power. Two physiological probes are used to test this method. The authors´ results support the idea that complex demodulation of inter-beat interval produces a time-local estimate of vagal power
