Abstract :
Sigma-delta modulators belong to the pulse code modulator (PCM) family and were first used in the communication field to digitise analogue signals. They have been used in power electronics since the early 1990s, particularly the first-order versions. In this paper, we show the effect of using sigma-delta modulators of different orders to control a 1-phase power inverter. We have also implemented these modulators in programmable logic devices-using VHDL language.
