Abstract :
A new converter topology for automotive application is proposed. The topology combines zero voltage switching (ZVS) with quasi zero current switching (quasi-ZCS) to reduce the switching loss. The proposed converter is basically a conventional bridge ZVS converter in which the transformer inductances and an output filter capacitor are used to obtain quasi-ZCS too. Also, the proposed converter power rating is improved by implementation of a series connection of the rectifier output and the input power source. Experimental results show substantial increase of the efficiency in comparison with the standard bridge ZVS converter.
