Abstract :
The availability of thrombolytic therapy and new neurological salvage agents with anti-hypoxic properties has sensitized the hospital community to the importance of decreased ambulance response times in cases of CVA (stroke). A preliminary computerized retrospective comparison of ambulance response times in CVA and Cardiac calls over a 6 month period was conducted at a major metropolitan hospital to determine whether differences exist. Response times were comparable for both types of calls, indicating they are considered equally critical medical emergencies
